1. Under the Whyte notation, a steam locomotive that has four coupled driving wheels followed by two trailing wheels, with no leading wheels.

   • The 'Lord Falkland', which pulled the first train from Bombay to Thana on April 14, 1853 was built by the Vulcan Foundry in England and was a '2-4-0' tender engine.
