From Ancient Greek ξανθός (xanthós, “yellow”) and φύλλον (phúllon, “leaf”), for its color and micaceous appearance, + -ite.
Meanings
- (archaic, uncountable, usually) A synonym of clintonite. The International Mineralogical Association's Commission on New Minerals, Nomenclature and Classification (CNMNC) recommends using clintonite as a replacement in all cases.
