1. not able to be parried or dodged
   • It is your fault, and I believe arises either from an ill-judged idea of smoothing matters to me — as if I were not behind the curtain — or a general reluctance to allow that any danger is near, until it is almost unparryable. 1900, John Gibson Lockhart, Memoirs of Sir Walter Scott: Volume 2, page 279:
