(countable, uncountable) The mixing of soil or sediment, especially pedoturbation.
With the onset of the rainy season, swelling closes the cracks, more rapidly in the upper horizons than further down. Trapped material eventually expands inside the soil body causing distortion, convulsion, and churning of the mass (turbation).
