Meanings

  1. (not-comparable, of a soldier, qualifier:prisoner etc.) Whose time has expired, having served their time.
  2. (not-comparable) Where a period of time, during which something can be sold or used, has expired.
  3. (not-comparable, of a structure) At the end of its life.
    • At the same time the civil engineers knew that the older of the two Clyde bridges was in need of early renewal.
