(slang) An informal guideline in anime fandom that encourages viewers to watch the first three episodes of a series before deciding whether to continue, allowing enough time to understand the story, setting and characters.
At its core, the three-episode rule is an arbitrary guideline that may not apply to every viewer’s tastes or watching habits.
