   • 1931, Donn Byrne (Brian Oswald Donn-Byrne), "Fosterage", in Rivers of Damascus, and Other Stories, published posthumously by The Century Company, page 73. The trouble was that for a brilliant, warlike and statecrafty nation, there was not enough army, parliament and offices to go around.
