  1. (uncountable) The ideology of a splitter (one who prefers to split categories into smaller groups).
    • Curiously, the descriptions sometimes coincide: Bolsheviks and Mensheviks accuse each other of "splitterism," factionalism, opportunism, of being intelligentsia- rather than worker-oriented (whether in outlook or social composition), of pandering to the undeveloped class instincts of the masses. 1997, André Liebich, From the Other Shore: Russian Social Democracy After 1921, page 29:
