(countable, uncountable) The act of covering or dressing with soot.
However, for some catalysts an accelerated aging was used which involved eight consecutive sootings at an inlet temperature of 370°C for three hours each followed by a regeneration during which the inlet temperature was increased to 650°C for 15 minutes.
