1. Pertaining to, or containing, sediment.
   • Nearly all the causes which have been mentioned, accidental and natural, appear to have operated in producing the present condition of its bed—the bends and elbows in the channel, where not before alluded to, had their share in effecting a retardation of velocity, and in furnishing a superabundance of sedimentitious matter; and the construction of a mill-dam (which, for all that is known, may have done a greater amount of good than evil,) has contributed an acceleration to the agencies at work. 1836, Report of the Engineer and Geologist in Relation to the New Map to the Executive of Maryland, 1834:
