1. (informal, transitive, uncommon) To explain or promote a product, service or idea in a persuasive way, usually to a potential buyer or client.
   • Back in the days when journalists actually worked to uncover things of real significance instead of sales pitching the glamour of Brad Pitt's hair styles or the agony experienced by an evicted Big Brother contestant, women such as Ida 2006, James Polk, The Triumph of Ignorance and Bliss, Pathologies of Public America, page 158:
