From Japanese ローテン (rōten) + -one (“ketone”), from Hokkien 蘆藤 /芦藤 (lôo-tîn, “Derris elliptica”).

Meanings

1. (countable, uncountable) A toxic crystalline substance obtained from the roots of derris and related plants, widely used as an insecticide.
