  1. (intransitive) To undergo recalescence.
    • One of these has been called recalescence, to which attention was first drawn by Mr. Barrett, who showed that if a piece of hard steel is heated to redness and then allowed to cool slowly it will, when almost black (in a dark room), suddenly reglow or recalesce, and then get dark again. 2015, C.
