Meanings

1. A genetic condition characterized by physical features similar to pseudohypoparathyroidism such as short stature, round facies, and subcutaneous ossifications, but without biochemical abnormalities like calcium or phosphate imbalance, due to normal end-organ responsiveness to parathyroid hormone.
   • Because Gαs is paternally imprinted in certain hormone target tissues, maternal inheritance of AHO leads to multihormone resistance [pseudohypoparathyroidism type 1a (PHP1a)], whereas paternal inheritance leads to AHO alone [pseudopseudohypoparathyroidism (pseudoPHP)].
