1. (uncountable, usually) Any of a wide range of theories that respond to feminism, arguing that it is no longer relevant or that it needs to be extended to fit the changing expectations and experiences of women.
   • As the ’90s went by, third-wave feminism was edged out by postfeminism, a cheerful, consumerist movement arguing that feminism had achieved what it needed to and now women were largely free to behave just like men, sexually liberated and socially empowered.
