   • The carrier also affords a convenient mode of merchandising beverages such as are commonly used for picnics and the like, a container containing, for example, twelve bottles of soft-drinks, beer, or the like being sold in iced condition by the retailer, such as an ice house, pony keg station or other outlets having facilities for icing the containers. 1954, US patent 2682988:
