A short stretch of railway line at a railway station which leaves a through line to serve a platform, before rejoining the through line beyond the station.
Sevenoaks, Tonbridge, Paddock Wood, Headcorn and Ashford stations have platform loops and there is a short four-track section between Cheriton and Folkestone Central.
