Meanings

1. A device, encompassing a clinometer, used for measuring the pitch of a vehicle, especially a ship or aircraft.
2. A device used for measuring the pitch of sounds or human voice.
   • This consisted, in essence, of a tape recorder for playing model utterances, a pitchmeter to extract, in real time, the fundamental frequency (pitch) of the model utterances and that of the student and a computer for comparing the output of the student with that of the model. 1976 August, E.
