(US, countable, uncountable) The process of rendering into the passive form.
In contrast, it is difficult for a movement theory to selectively apply to some verbs and not all. The consequence for that approach has been to complicate the syntax of verbs which cannot passivize: It is proposed that they have a more complex syntax that doesn’t allow passivization.
