   • Only in the Cotylosauria primitively do the paroccipitals exist as distinct bones in the adult, articulating with the exoccipitals, supraoccipital, proötics, stapes, tabulars, and quadrates. On the inner side they help form, with the supraoccipital and proötics, the otic capsule.
