From ovo- (“egg”) + pyriform (“pear-shaped”).
Meanings

(not-comparable) Having a shape in between that of an egg and a pear.
The larva is an elongate ovopyriform hexapod, with a long terminal capitulum; it measures 0.6 mm. from tip of hypostome to posterior extremity, but gorged larvae attain to 4 mm. by 2 mm., and are then nearly oval.
