A cord-like organ composed of elastic fibres, situated above the ventral nervous cord of annelids such as the earthworm.
A neurocord, which does have a central lumen, is formed by invaginated nervous tissue in the intermediately located collar and connects the dorsal nerve cords of the proboscis and the trunk.
