Meanings

1. To vocalize incorrectly.
   • For example, in the OT vowels of the Hebrew word for “shame” ( בושה) served to misvocalize Ashtart to Ashtoreth (1 Kgs 11:5, 33), Baal to Bosheth (Hos 9:10), and Melek to Molech (Jer 32:35; 2 Kgs 23:10). 2013, Jack R. Lundbom, Deuteronomy: A Commentary, page 425:
