Etymology

Formed in the late 19th century as mis- (“hatred”) + -andry (“men”) by analogy with misogyny; compare the Ancient Greek μισανδρία (misandría), from μισέω (miséō, “hate”) + ἀνήρ (anḗr, “man”).
