Once my opponents see that I actually shuffle the deck after the mana shuffle I will almost never have a problem.

If I remember right, they don't care if you do a mana shuffle, but the last three times (I think it is) half to be the kind of shuffling you do with playing cards... you know, one stack in each hand, and alternating bits from each stack falling.. People "mana shuffle" because of the numerous games they have played and they have found that land becomes clumped together (i.e. a "mana pocket").
