  1. (uncountable) A noninvasive magnetic resonance imaging technique that provides information about the subarachnoid space, or the space between the arachnoid and pia meninges in a human brain. It uses a gadolinium-based contrast medium inserted into the spine and an MRI scanner to allow doctors to view an image of the spine so they can look for injuries, tumors, etc.
