Meanings

1. Near, or oriented toward, the longer wavelengths of a range.
   • The profiles of both lines are extremely asymmetrical, which we have found to be caused by very broad diffuse interstellar bands (DIBs) in the longward wing of H#92;beta and the shortward wing of H#92;alpha. 2015, Nolan R.
