Etymology

From loca(l) + -vore. Coined by Jen Maiser, Jessica Prentice, Sage Van Wing, and DeDe Sampson, co-founders of the “Locavores” web site in 2005.

Meanings

1. (neologism) One who tries to eat only locally grown foods.
