Etymology
Calque of taxonomic name Saurischia, from Ancient Greek σαῦρος (saûros, “lizard”) + ἰσχίον (iskhíon, “hip joint”).
Meanings

(not-comparable) Belonging to the clade Saurischia, a group of dinosaurs typically characterised by a pelvic structure in which the pubis projects forward, forming a three-pronged arrangement.
All dinosaurs belonged to a group of reptiles called archosaurs. There were two separate types of dinosaur, the lizard-hipped dinosaurs (saurischians) and the bird-hipped dinosaurs (ornithischians).
