Etymology
Borrowed from Medieval Latin leprōsāria, from leprōsus (“leprous”) + -āria, now usually under the influence of Spanish leprosería.

The only minor decline was in the number of leprosarias. In 1987 the Catholic Church managed two fewer leprosarias than in 1982.
