A major surgical procedure in which the uterus, vagina, and sigmoid colon are removed together. It is usually performed to treat advanced or recurrent pelvic cancers that have spread across these organs, with the goal of removing all visible disease in one operation.
Associated procedures employed to achieve complete cytoreduction included reverse hysterocolposigmoidectomy, modified posterior exenteration or total exenteration; however, they referred especially to colic resection during primary cytoreductive surgery [ 9 - 11 ].
