Etymology
Blend of hexadeca- + quaternion, from Ancient Greek ἑκκαίδεκα (hekkaídeka, “sixteen”).
Meanings

An alternative name for a sedenion, a 16-dimensional hypercomplex number or a 16-dimensional number constructed by doubling the quaternion.
We extend this very concept to the larger mathematical object, which generalizes the quaternion, the hexadecanion, which we shall define and use.
