Meanings

1. (archaic) So as to make or become hot.
   • Some skins are intolerant of grease, and in very active hot eczemas the grease may act heatingly by interfering with escape of secretions and radiation of heat. Pastes which are ointments but contain far more powder, are sometimes superior. 1918, The Ophthalmic Yearbook, volume 14, page 167:
