1. A device that irradiates materials in order to test the degree to which they fade from exposure to sunlight.
   • Essentially, these consisted of placing fabric swatches under the light of the Florida sun or of a fadometer, and then examining them to determine the degree of fade. 1957, Milton Jacobs, Fabrics and Fibers for Passenger Cars:
