Etymology

First attested in 1609; borrowed from Latin dēglūtinātus, perfect passive participle of dēglūtinō (“to unglue”) (see -ate (verb-forming suffix)), from dē- + glūtinō (“to glue”), from gluten (“glue”) + -ō.
