Lytic polysaccharide monooxygenase, a copper-dependent enzyme, attacks recalcitrant chitin polysaccharides [4 ,5 ], while endochitinases hydrolyse long chitin chains to chitin oligosaccharides, which are then transported through the bacterial cell wall by chitoporin or ChiP.
