The air was filled with the “tock tock” of the mee seller and the distinctive cries of hawkers selling meatball soup, wanton mee, mee hoon, chee cheong fun, char kway teow, yong tau fu, rice porridge, herbal teas, red bean soup, pau and dim sum, and so on in endless variety.
