Meanings

1. The skin of a caribou, or leather made therefrom.
   • The seams, at the shoulders and elsewhere, are ornamented with a 3 inch fringe of caribouskin. 1898, Frank Russell, chapter 11, in Explorations in the Far North, page 188:
   • These lodge poles were steadied by being lashed to a couple of cross poles whose arch conformed to the inner curve of the lodge. The covering was preferably made of mooseskins sewn together although caribouskins were used if the former were not available.
