1. (UK, uncountable) A rail safety system installed in the driving cab of a train, which gives information to the train driver on track status and condition.
   • It's easy enough to calculate that even at higher speeds - 360 km/h to pluck a figure out of the air - the signalling headway can be as low as 120 seconds given the benefit that follows from cab signalling such as European Train Control System (ECTS) Level 2. 2019 October, William Barter, “West Coast capacity study”, in Modern Railways, page 66:
