bumelia borer en · NOUN
Etymology
From bumelia + borer.
Meanings
-
Plinthocoelium suaveolens, a species of beetle which bores into bumelia trees.
A notable find was the pile of larval frass of Plinthocoelium suaveolens (bumelia borer) at the base of a living Sideroxylon lanuginosum (gum bumelia) tree—a sure sign of active infestation by a beetle I have yet to formally record from this place.
