A state occurring when a buffer used to communicate between two devices or processes is fed with data at a lower speed than the data is being read from it.
One problem with on-the-fly copying is that you risk buffer underrun, which occurs when the CD or DVD drive doing the burning doesn't receive a continuous stream of data.
