Meanings

  1. (uncountable) Care given to an infant by an animal that is not the infant's parent.
    • Older offspring can either provide allocare for siblings, which is in the mother's interest, or try to find a breeding position in another group, which may be even more costly to them than helping their mother (e.g., saddle-back tamarin, Saguinus fuscicollis, Goldizen et al. 1996). 2012, John C.
