The atonal pinyin romanization of the Mandarin pronunciation of Chinese 楊樹浦 /杨树浦 (Yángshùpǔ, literally “Poplar Tree Bank”).

Meanings

1. (historical) Former name of Yangpu, a district of Shanghai, China.
   • Shanghai's concessions, which by the middle of the nineteenth century took up 0.56 square kilometers, extended to over 33 square kilometers at the beginning of the twentieth century.
