Meanings
- (UK, obsolete) A certificate given to a citizen who "apprehends and prosecutes" a felon for certain crimes, exempting them from certain parish and ward duties, such as serving on a jury. Introduced in The Clerks of Assize (Fees) Act 1698, it was repealed in 1818.
