From Manchu + -istics, influenced by Manchu ᠮᠠᠨᠵᡠ (manju).

Not all contemporary sinologists were as enthustiastic as Amiot about the utility of studying Manchu, but Amiot became one of the founding fathers of Manjuristics by publishing the first extensive dictionary of Manchu, and he was followed by a number of French, German and Russian orientalists who made valuable contributions to the study of the Manchu language.
