Partial calque of Mandarin 遼寧青銅文化 /辽宁青铜文化 (Liáoníng qīngtóng wénhuà), from 遼寧 /辽宁 (Liáoníng, “Liaoning”) + 青銅 /青铜 (qīngtóng, “bronze”) + 文化 (wénhuà, “culture”), with Liaoning being the location of the type site, and the fact that the culture is characterised by its manufacture of bronze daggers. By surface analysis, Liaoning + bronze + dagger + culture.

An archaeological culture dating from the Bronze Age in north-eastern China and parts of the Korean Peninsula, characterised by the high zinc content of the bronze daggers which it manufactured.
Although the origin of the Korean bronze age culture may be traced back to the Liaoning bronze dagger culture, the Korean bronze dagger culture has its own unique features, as demonstrated by the typology and styles of Korean bronze ritual objects, which differ from the Liaoning bronze dagger culture.
