I was recently asked why I continually say “Jesus the Christ” and not Jesus Christ. Christ is not the surname used by Jesus. The word Christ is defined as Messiah, or savior, or as an ideal type of humanity. […] Jesus the Christ taught love, compassion, mercy, justice, etc. as being the standards for all humankind. The ideals that Jesus the Christ taught, such as love, compassion, mercy and justice, are considered moral by most genuine human beings.
