Etymology

From a September 2020 post by Tumblr user gomjabbar lampooning hardcore Star Wars fans and Star Wars character names: "every time a new Star War^([sic]) movie or show is announced all the fans are like 'OMG Glup Shitto is back 😭😭😭'". The name Shitto was presumably constructed from shit + -o, suggesting the poor quality of such characters. The name somewhat resembles actual Star Wars characters such as Han Solo or Watto.

Meanings

1. (derogatory, qualifier:Star Wars fandom slang, vulgar) Any minor Star Wars character or one who features primarily in Expanded Universe media unknown to casual fans.
2. (broadly) A character in any work of fiction who is similarly unknown to casual fans.

   • 'The Book of Boba Fett' is a good example of this joke containing a few grains of truth. Boba Fett was, after all, the original Glup Shitto.
