Former official name of Serbia and Montenegro: a former country existing in Southeastern Europe on the Balkan Peninsula from 1992 through 2006, composed of the modern states of Serbia and Montenegro; a rump state of the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, which changed its official name to the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro in 2003.
