Etymology

Blend of Fauci + fascism, referencing Dr. Anthony Fauci, one of the chief figures in the White House Coronavirus Task Force, who emphasized the urgency of pandemic countermeasures. Coined by American politician Ron DeSantis during the COVID-19 pandemic who used the slogan "Freedom over Faucism".

Meanings

1. (derogatory, neologism, uncountable) The belief in or support of restrictive measures, such as lockdowns and mask mandates, in order to contain the COVID-19 pandemic.
   • Woke capital, COVID-19 tyranny, and abortion are all topics that matter deeply to Republican primary voters, and Trump is asking his supporters to abandon their convictions and back him against a man, DeSantis, who has been correct on all of these subjects.
